Robert (Bob) Wayne Hiser

Robert (Bob) Wayne Hiser passed away peacefully on May 22, 2023 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born at the family home on November 4, 1932 to the late Oscar and Gertrude Hiser. Bob left Pemberville High School in 1953 to serve four years in the U.S. Army and loved talking about the time he spent serving in Germany. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Bauer from Gibsonburg on September 23, 1958 she preceded him in death on November 8, 1992 after 34 years of marriage. Bob worked at Chrysler, retiring in 1993. He was known to most of his co-workers as “Buckeye Bob” and that he did not give a damn for the whole state of xichigan. Aside from being a hard worker and providing for his family Bob spent many years participating in various bowling leagues in Woodville, Elmore, and Fremont. Along with his wife, they ran many pool leagues and spent many, many years running and maintaining the field for the adult softball leagues in Gibsonburg. They organized various tournaments including the family favorite; “Summers End Co-Ed Tournament” which raised money for the local fire department. Bob also spent many years volunteering his time preparing softball fields, painting the football field, and being on the “chain gang” for Gibsonburg schools.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Dawn Hiser of Bowling Green, OH, Robbyn (Jerry) Eakin of Fremont, OH, Lisa (Tom) Kinney of Fostoria, OH, Robert Jr. (Valerie) Hiser of IN, Craig Hiser of Fremont, OH, Kyle Hiser of Gibsonburg, OH, Kerri Henry of Fremont, OH, and Sherrill Hiser of Chicago, IL; Sister Charmyne Kroeger of IN. Grandchildren: Shellie (Jason)Lawrence, Terrance (Casey)Eakin, Amber Eakin, Jamie (Kyle) Morton, Valentina Hiser, Nathan Hiser, Nickolas Hiser, Kelsey Henry, Kasey Henry, and 6 great grandchildren; Elijah and Abram Lawrence, Theo Morton, Arielle, Nolan and Myles Eakin; dog and companion, Lillie. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and siblings John, Elmer, Jim, Harold and Donna.

Visitation will take place from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday at the funeral home and will be livestreamed via his obituary page on the funeral home’s website. Fr. Tom McQuillen to officiate. Burial will follow with military graveside rights at West Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
