Young cyclist hurt after being struck by car in Perrysburg

PERRYSBURG — A 13-year-old boy riding a bicycle was seriously injured after being struck by a car.

At 7:52 p.m. Monday, the boy was riding northbound on the sidewalk on Bridgeview Drive.

Roberta Redfern, Pemberville, was westbound on Eckel Junction Road and struck the boy after he failed to yield and rode his bike into the crosswalk, according to a Perrysburg police report.

The boy was transported to Mercy Health-St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo by Perrysburg EMS with suspected serious injuries.

Redfern was driving a 2019 Toyota Prius.
