Come drum with the circle

A Community Drum Circle is set for Sunday from 5-6 p.m. at the Maumee Valley UU Congregation, 20189 N. Dixie Hwy.

All ages and experience levels are welcome. Bring an instrument, or borrow one from the group. The goal is to have fun and create musical rhythms and sounds together.

Tea & Talk Series: ‘Underwear Etiquette’

The Wood County Museum’s assistant events coordinator Alex Hutchings is the speaker for the upcoming Tea & Talk Series on May 18 at 2 p.m. at the museum, 13660 County Home Road.

The May tea is titled “Underwear Etiquette” and is a discussion about how literature was rampant with guidelines on how to conduct one’s self; underwear was a central subject of this genre. A glimpse of an ankle, naked shoulders, an untied cravat – learn about the social protocols of hidden clothing.

Admission includes tea and light refreshments. Member pricing is $25, while non-member and special diet meals are $30.

Economic development topic of exchange club

Wade Gottschalk will be the speaker at the Bowling Green Exchange Club Tuesday at noon at the BG Country Club.

Gottschalk has been the executive director of the Wood County Economic Development Commission for 11 years. He is a BGSU graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science/Government in 2000 and a Masters in Public Administration in 2001.

The Wood County Economic Development Commission was founded in 1993, when a group of private sector business leaders approached the Wood County Commissioners with the idea of a public/private partnership to grow the employment and tax base of Wood County.

Kiwanis hear from musician

The Bowling Green Kiwanis will meet on Thursday at the Wood County Senior Center, 140 S Grove St. The public is welcome to attend. The meeting starts at noon and lunch is available starting at 11:30 a.m.

This week the club welcomes speaker Geoff Howes, with the Ukulele, Harmonica, & Vocals Grande Royale Ükulelists of the Black Swamp. His topic of discussion will be My Fifty Years As An Amateur Musician.

Play detective around BG with library’s architecture detectives

Do you love historic architecture? Combine this passion with your detective skills during the Wood County District Public Library’s Architecture Detectives event through May 31.

Pick up a sheet of image clues from either the Children’s Place desk or the information services desk at the library, 251 N. Main St., and identify where all the images can be found around town. Turn in the sheet by May 31 for a chance to win a Wood County Bicentennial quilt.

Plant sale planned in Perrysburg

PERRYSBURG — The Black Swamp Hosta and Daylily Society will be hold the 26th Annual Perennial Plant Sale on May 20 at Walt Churchill’s Market parking lot on 26625 N. Dixie Hwy.

The sale will begin at 8 a.m. and run until sold out, which usually occurs by 11:30 a.m. Sale will be held rain or shine. Cash or checks only.

Get there early for the best selection of hostas, daylilies, ferns, wildflowers and companion perennial plants.

All plants are from the society’s gardens, and are offered at reasonable prices. Proceeds from the sale allow the society to continue sponsorship of national hosta and daylily display gardens at Toledo Botanical Garden Metropark, 577 Foundation in Perrysburg and Simpson Garden Park in Bowling Green. Members will be on hand to answer any questions.

Learn about affordable internet with library, Ohio Connectivity Champions

Learn more about getting affordable internet with the Wood County District Public Library and Ohio Connectivity Champions on May 19 at 2 p.m. in Meeting Room C at library, 251 N. Main St.

The Affordable Connectivity Program is a government program to help lower-income households pay for internet service.

In some cases, internet service to a home can be obtained for little or no cost. Applying for this benefit is easy, and assistance from the Ohio Connectivity Champions will be at this program to help learn more about options and to walk participants through the process.
