A minor injury crash was reported Wednesday in Lake Township.

At 6:30 a.m., Lake Township police responded to an injury crash on Ohio 795 and Cummings Road between a pickup truck and a tractor trailer. The officer determined a third vehicle had been involved.

Richard Cannings, Toledo, who was driving a semi-tractor, told police he was driving westbound on Route 795 approaching Cummings Road when a northbound pickup truck ran a red light. Cannings stated that the pickup struck a black sedan first before his vehicle was struck.

Mercedes Hoover, Oregon, was driving the sedan and told police she could not remember what happened during the crash.

After the pickup truck driver, identified as Kevin Wisegiver, Millbury, was checked by medics on scene, he told police he was going to work at 4400 Moline-Martin Road. He said that he was still half asleep when the crash occurred.

He was cited for traffic control device.

A witness on scene stated that the 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 ran the red light going north on Cummings and struck the black sedan first and then the semi. Dash-cam footage owned by Nagle trucking caught the incident on camera.

The sedan, which also was westbound on Route 795, attempted to swerve into the right lane before being struck by Wisegiver’s pickup truck. After Hoover was struck, Wisegiver was then struck by the semi.

Lake Township handled two additional minor injury crashes Monday, on Ohio 420 and Ohio 20. None of the drivers were from Wood County.
