Otsego advances to district behind Rowe’s no-hitter

TONTOGANY — Otsego pitcher Riley Rowe pitched a complete-game no hitter as the Knights routed Port Clinton, 10-0, Thursday to advance to the Division II district tournament.

Rowe struck out 14, walked one, needing only five innings in the circle as the Otsego offense scored 10 runs on 13 hits and took advantage of four Redskin errors.

At the plate, Kiana Dingledine had a triple, two doubles, and two RBIs to lead the Knights, Aubrey Hartman was 3-for-3 with an RBI, Janelle Brooks was 2-for-3 with a double, and Evelyn Rider was 2-for-4 with a double. Rowe, Alexis Etchie, and Cailyn Rider had base hits.

After a scoreless first inning, Otsego put up six runs in the second inning, added two in the third, and one in the fourth and one in the fifth to walk off with the 10-run victory.

Otsego will play the winner of Toledo Central Catholic and Fostoria in a district semifinal on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at Genoa High School, first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The district championship is set for Saturday, noon, at Genoa.
