Lake’s Tobias, Sobzack combine for one-hitter

MILLBURY — Caleb Tobias and Jack Sobzack combined to pitch a one-hitter as Lake defeated Woodmore, 10-0, in Northern Buckeye Conference baseball on Monday.

Tobias struck out four, walked two, and allowed the only hit through three innings, throwing just 43 pitches, including 27 strikes, to 12 batters.

Sobzack struck out four, walked one and did not allow a hit through two innings, throwing 26 pitches, including 15 strikes, to seven batters.

At the plate, Lake scored four in the first, two in the second, and four in the third to get their 10-run lead and have the game ended after five innings because of the mercy rule. The Flyers had 11 hits, five stolen bases, and took advantage of three walks.

Drew Tajblik led the Flyers at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and he scored three runs. Myles Lowe was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs.

Connor Eck had a double and three RBIs, and Jay Blazevich, Gavin Kohlhofer, Nate Wagner, and Carter Behlmer had base hits. Kohlhofer had two stolen bases and Behlmer, Sobzack and Blazevich had one apiece.

Tyler Smith had the Wildcats’ only base hit. Trace Murphy took the loss on the mound for Woodmore.
