Farmers market opens in BG this week

In conjunction with the farmers market scheduled every Wednesday, starting this week through Oct. 18, a portion of Clough Street will be closed to traffic and parking restrictions will occur.

Each week at 3:30 p.m., Clough Street, between Main and Prospect streets, will be closed to traffic. Additionally, parking within this section of Clough will be prohibited and access to City Parking Lot 2 will be restricted. All other entrances/exits to and from Lot 2 will remain open.

Clough Street will open and parking will be reinstated at 7 p.m. each week.

Help needed with BG flower planting

Downtown BG is looking for volunteers to help plant flowers on Tuesday at 9 a.m. The rain date will be May 17 at 9 a.m. Volunteers should meet at the Grounds For Thought parklet.

Free community dinner offered in BG

Free and open to the public, the monthly drive-thru community meal and food distribution hosted by First Christian Church of Bowling Green, 875 Haskins Road, is Friday.

This month’s menu features lasagna, green beans, fruit cup, garlic bread and cookies. There will also be a food bag and toiletries distribution. All are welcome.

To participate in this monthly event, arrive between 5 and 6 p.m. at the FCC parking lot and remain in your car. Volunteers will take your order, hand deliver the meal(s), and direct you to the groceries, bread and pastries.

Support is from St. Thomas More University Parish of Bowling Green, BG Christian Food Pantry, First Presbyterian Church, the Sweet Shop and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

A look into Monopoly’s secret history at Way

PERRYSBURG — On May 18 at 2 p.m., Way Public Library and WGTE present “American Experience: Ruthless – Monopoly’s Secret History.”

Discover the history behind America’s favorite board game. Part detective story and part pop culture commentary, the film explores what makes this game, a celebration of unbridled capitalism.

This program is free and open to the public.

Weston High School alumni banquet planned

The Weston High School Alumni Banquet will be held on May 20 at the Lybarger Grimm American Legion Hall Post 441, 18086 Tontogany Road, Tontogany.

The focus of the banquet will be the opportunity for classmates and other attendees to visit with friends over a dinner of Swiss steak, green beans, mashed potatoes/gravy, roll, pie and coffee.

Attendees should arrive around 5:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.. Anyone who attended the school, who is somehow associated with the school or an alumnus, or who is a community member and would like to come to the banquet should send $17 per person to Joann Euler, 20515 Evon Lane, Weston, Ohio 43569.

Church holds rummage sale

Trinity United Methodist Church, 200 N. Summit St., will have a spring rummage sale on May 18, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., May 19 from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and May 20 from 9 a.m.-noon (bag day, $4).

Proceeds will help buy food for families in need and mission projects.

Tea & Talk Series: ‘Underwear Etiquette’

The Wood County Museum’s assistant events coordinator Alex Hutchings is the speaker for the upcoming Tea & Talk Series on May 18 at 2 p.m. at the museum, 13660 County Home Road.

The May tea is titled “Underwear Etiquette” and is a discussion about how literature was rampant with guidelines on how to conduct one’s self; underwear was a central subject of this genre. A glimpse of an ankle, naked shoulders, an untied cravat – learn about the social protocols of hidden clothing.
