Eastwood beats Fostoria, Rossford clinch NBC title

PEMBERVILLE — Kadyn Donnell and Vincent Schwartz combined to limit Fostoria to two hits as the Eagles defeated the Redmen, 10-0, and clinched an outright Northern Buckeye Conference championship Tuesday.

The Eagles improved to 22-0 overall and 12-0 in the league.

Donnell started, striking out three, walking one, and allowing one hit through four innings. He threw 41 pitches, including 26 strikes while facing 13 batters.

Schwartz closed in the fifth, striking out two, walking none, and allowing one hit, facing four batters. He threw 17 pitches, including nine pitches for strikes.

Offensively, Eastwood led 2-0 after two innings, but scored three in the third and five in the fourth as the game ended after five innings because of the mercy rule.

Case Boos led the Eagles with two doubles, two stolen bases, and scored three runs. Tristan Schuerman was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, three stolen bases and three runs, and Jordan Pickerel, Jackson Bauer, and Caleb Recker had base hits.

Recker and Bauer also reached base after getting hit by a pitch, and Pickerel and Bauer had one stolen base apiece.

For Fostoria, Julius Robinson and Aidan Sprang had base hits and Robinson and Derrick Kleinmark had stolen bases.

Jason Harpster started on the mound for Fostoria, pitching 3.1 innings and taking the loss, and Satoru Tanuma and Sprang pitched in relief.

On Monday at Rossford, the Eagles scored six runs in the top of the first and took a 7-0 lead after two innings, but the Bulldogs climbed back into the game, but Eastwood prevailed 8-7, to clinch an NBC tie.

Rossford scored two runs in the third, two in the fourth, and three in the fifth, but could not add the winning run in the sixth or seventh innings. Eastwood had 12 stolen bases.

Ethan Rapp started on the mound for Eastwood, striking out three, walking six, and allowing 10 hits and seven runs through 6.2 innings. Andrew Badenhop go to the final out for the Eagles.

At the plate, Boos was 3-for-5 with five stolen bases, Badenhop was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, Pickerel was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Colton Woodward was 2-for-4 with a double and Bauer had a double.

Donnell, Isaac Reynolds, and Rapp had base hits for the Eagles, who outhit the Bulldogs, 13-10. Reynolds and Rapp also reached after getting hit by a pitch, and both had sacrifice bunts.

Reynolds had two stolen bases and Rapp, Donnell, Pickerel, Schuerman, and Bauer had one stolen base apiece.

Brenden Revels started on the mound for the Bulldogs, and after a rocky first two innings, he held the Eagles scoreless through 3.2 innings, striking out five, walking two, allowing 13 hits and six earned runs through 5.1 innings.

Landen Reiter closed, striking out one, walking none, and now allowing a hit or run over the final 1.1 innings.

Jacob Tuczyski was 3-for-4 with a double and scored three runs, Logan Walder was 3-for-3 with a triple, double and three RBIs, and Kaden Kirkman was 2-for-4 for the Bulldogs.

Jackson Grimm and Reiter had base hits, Alex Williams had a sacrifice fly, and Brandon Swope and Turczynski reached by HBP.
