Found in Mexico: Toledo man, who is wanted in Wood County, and missing teen

A Toledo man, who is wanted in Wood County on a warrant, has been arrested after he allegedly fled with a teen to Arizona.

Jonathon Jones, 33, was arrested Monday in Ahumada, Chihuahua, Mexico, according to Alex Rutter, supervisory deputy with the U.S. Marshals Office in Toledo.

Rutter said he does not have any specific details of the arrest.

Jones was traveling with Kaitlyn Coones, 17, who was reported missing to Canton police on April 11.

She has been recovered, Rutter said.

A national search started last week for Rutter and Coones.

Jones is wanted on a warrant in Wood County after failing to appear for a sentencing hearing earlier this month.

In March, Jones pleaded guilty to endangering children and attempting to commit pandering obscenity, both third-degree felonies, for a Wood County incident.

He was indicted in November for pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person and endangering children, both second-degree felonies; pandering obscenity and possession of criminal tools, both fifth-degree felonies; interference with custody and contributing to unruliness or delinquency of a child, both first-degree misdemeanors; and failure to comply with underage alcohol laws, an unclassified misdemeanor.

Jones was accused of knowingly creating, reproducing or publishing material that showed a minor participating in a sexual act after he was found Oct. 24 with numerous nude photos of a 16-year-old female on his phone and numerous videos of himself and the girl having sex.

He also is accused of knowingly aiding the girl to become unruly in that November incident. Jones reportedly picked her up and drove her to the Super 8 in Millbury after she ran away from a medical facility in Columbus.

The endangering charge is because Jones allegedly enticed or coerced the girl to act, model or in any other way participate in being photographed for the production or presentation of sexually oriented or nudity-oriented matter. There is a human trafficking specification to this charge.

He also allegedly furnished alcohol to the girl and used his cell phone to take the pictures.
