7 cited in BG for fighting over the weekend

Seven people were cited for fighting in two separate incidents over the weekend.

On Sunday around 3:10 a.m., Bowling Green police received multiple 911 calls about people yelling in a parking lot in the 800 block of Fourth Street.

The officer observed an altercation in the grassy area behind the parking lot.

A second officer detained two subjects who were seen running away in the alley near Elm and Fourth streets, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

Calvin Berger told police he was trying to defend himself and his roommate, Jacob Barrett.

Berger said he had kicked Jacob Caputo and Austin Buczko out of his apartment after an afterhours gathering.

Berger, 20, and Barrett, 29, both of Bowling Green, along with Buczko, 24, Maumee, and Caputo, 23, Whitehouse. were each cited for disorderly conduct/fighting.

A warrant was issued for Hayley Cox, 22, Toledo, for assault. Cox allegedly struck another person in the face multiple times causing small cuts and bruises. She reportedly ran from the scene.

At 2:30 a.m. Saturday, an officer observed a large group of people in the street in the 100 block of East Court Street.

The police report indicted several people fighting and the officer instructed six males to sit on the ground until other officers arrived.

One man said Ian Bryson had thrown a woman to the ground and that’s when he stepped in.

Downtown video footage confirmed that story and Bryson, 26, Bowling Green, was cited for disorderly conduct/fighting.

A further review of the video footage showed Zachary Debien, Jarious Minter and an unidentified female were all involved with the fight.

Police planned to follow up and cite Debien, 20 Toledo, and Minter, 23, Bowling Green, for disorderly conduct.
