An Ohio man has been arrested for improperly handling a firearm in a vehicle while intoxicated.

Bowling Green police responded at 7:09 a.m. Saturday to a report of a man passed out for more than an hour in a car in the 1600 block of East Wooster Street.

Officers found a man later identified as Keith Wasson, 29, St. Marys, passed out in his vehicle.

An officer pounded on the driver’s side window. Wasson appeared dazed and confused, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report, and had bloodshot glassy eyes.

When Wasson opened his door, the officer did not smell an odor of alcoholic beverages and when asked if he had been drinking, Wasson told the officer no.

When asked if there was a gun in the car, Wasson pointed to his right hip and said the gun was on him. The Sig Sauer P365 handgun was confiscated. It had one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine, according to the report.

Wasson reportedly failed several field sobriety tests and two open cans of 24-ounce cans of spiked lemonade were observed inside the vehicle.

A breath test administered at the station resulted in a 0.095 blood alcohol content.

Wasson was cited for physical control of a motor vehicle and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and was arrested for improperly handing a firearm while intoxicated.

He was taken to jail.
