Bernece E. Burris, 87, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away Wednesday April 26, 2023. She was born on November 9, 1935 to Emil and Cora (Henschen) Eilert. Bernece was a graduate of Webster High School in 1953. She married Gerald Burris on July 9, 1955 and he preceded her in death in 2021.
Along with her husband they raised, trained and raced standardbred horses for over 50 years. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and in the kitchen baking.
Along with her husband, Gerald, she was preceded in death by her brother Stewart Eilert.
Bernece is survived by her son James (Cheryl) Burris, and daughter Becky (Richard) Johnson. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Crystal, Michael, Tyler, Emily, and Beth as well as 11 great-grandchildren. Her sister, Maxine Cross, also survives.
Final resting will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster Street.
