Father and son commemorate Hall’s 700 wins

PERRYSBURG — Father and son coaches, Dave Hall and Jeff Hall, went against each other as Perrysburg hosted Rochester Adams (Michigan) in a doubleheader Saturday at Jim Leyland Field.

The event was to celebrate Perrysburg coach Dave Hall’s 700th win, and Dave received a plaque commemorating the event and the Perrysburg players wore pre-game shirts commemorating the 700th game.

Coach Dave Hall has a career 707-362 career mark. He is currently ranked 12th all-time among Ohio coaches.

His son Jeff graduated from Perrysburg in 1998 and then played at Oakland University in Michigan. Rochester Adams and Perrysburg have scheduled non-league games against each other for the past 17 years.

Hall got his 700th when the Yellow Jackets defeated Fairdale (Kentucky), 8-5, on April 6. This year’s team is currently 11-5.

On Saturday, Perrysburg swept Adams 10-9 and 7-4. In the 10-9 victory, Perrysburg scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull out the win.

Jack Losee went 3-for-4 with a double, scored two runs and had four RBIs to lead the Yellow Jackets. Nick Oros went 2-for-4 and scored three runs, and Trent Bezek doubled, walked three times and scored three runs.

Matt Hubbard, Braxton Mefferd, and Parker Faris had base hits. Quinn Weber reached twice after getting hit by a pitch and Logan Drewes and Losee and two stolen bases apiece.

Losee got the win on the mound, striking out two, walking one, and allowing one hit and one run over the last two innings. Connor Kessinger started for the Yellow Jackets and Nick Hartzell pitched middle relief.

In Perrysburg’s 7-4 win, Tyler Palmer started on the mound and got the win by shutting out the Highlanders for the first four innings.

Palmer struck out four, walked three, and allowed two hits and no runs over four innings, throwing 73 pitches, including 40 strikes while facing 17 batters.

Carson Rogers pitched an inning of middle relief and Brady Zilles closed the final two innings for the Yellow Jackets,

At the plate for Perrysburg, Landon Winters was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs, and he scored twice, Weber was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and Bezek was 2-for-3 with a stolen base.

Hubbard, Dugan Smith, and Carter Stanton had base hits for Perrysburg, and Drewes had a stolen base.
