Lake Twp. plans to resurface roads with $300,000 budget

MILLBURY — Several roads will be resurfaced in Lake Township this year, with a $300,000 budget.

At last week’s meeting, the trustees voted to put the project out for bid.

“We budgeted $300,000,” Fiscal Officer Buddy Ritson said after the meeting.

He said they are “pretty confident” they can get all of the bidded roads done.

The roads to be resurfaced are:

• Millbury Road, from Ohio 51 to Ayers Road

• Cummings Road from Ohio 795 to Martin-Moline Road

• Misty Lane, from Bradner Road to Cedar Valley Drive

• Shadow Lane, from Bradner to Cedar Valley

• Cedar Valley

• Red Bud Drive

• Old Trail Way, from Red Bud to the cul-de-sac

• Bobwhite Drive

• Indian Trail Boulevard, from Bradner Road to Red Bud

• Pheasant Drive, from Bobwhite to Red Bud

Also at the meeting, the trustees:

• Voted to provide $19,533 toward a Bureau of Workers Compensation grant request for a new cot system for the fire department. The total grant amount is $59,355.

• Enrolled in a workers compensation service for 2024. Sedgwich, Cleveland, will receive $4,835 for the service.

• Hired Tarp Stop to install a tarp system on the 2023 Freightliner for $4,093.

• Approved $1,329 for brake and rotor repairs to the police department’s 2017 Ford Explorer. Baumann Ford Oregon will do the work. The dealership will also repair the cooling system in the police department’s 2018 Dodge Charger for $3,378.

• Voted to pay $3,971 to Four County Career Center, Archbold, for the training of four firefighters.

• Paid the Wood County Sheriff’s Office $2,441 for computer-aided dispatching and Virtual Private Network setup.

• Approved paying $1,951 to Brondes Ford Maumee for emergency repairs to the 2014 E-450 ambulance.

• Purchased tourniquet kits that will be used by police for $1,163 from North American Rescue, Greer, South Carolina.

• Bought a bullet-proof vest and accessories for $1,150 from Traffic Stop Uniform Supply, Bowling Green.

• Voted to replace a four-gas meter for $860. Johnson’s Fire Equipment Co., Wellston, will do the work.

• Hired Tanner Dodge and Cory Church as firefighters/paramedics at $20.05 per hour.

• Heard spring brush pickup starts this week for areas west of Interstate 280. Collection for areas east of I-280 starts May 1.

• Heard March department reports. Police arrested 13 and issued 21 citations. There were 123 EMS calls and eight fires. The cemetery had nine burials and two cremations.
