Gerrard leads Jackets to 10-2 win over Wildcats

PERRYSBURG — Perrysburg softball had 14 hits and Maison Gerrard pitched a complete game victory as the Yellow Jackets defeated Sylvania Northview, 10-2, in Northern Lakes League softball Thursday.

Gerrard struck out two, walked two, and allowed seven hits and one earned run while throwing 97 pitches, including 66 strikes and facing 29 batters.

Gerrard was also solid at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, Jess Miller was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Hayley Griggs was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Maddie Von Sacken was 2-for-4 with a stolen base and RBI.

Morgan Hoverman, Yesenia You, Alyssa Bradford, and Lexi Vaillant had base hits and Emma Leonard reached after getting hit by a pitch.

Perrysburg led by just one run, 3-2, after four innings, but exploded for five runs in the bottom of the fifth and added two more in the sixth.

For the Wildcats, Sophia McKarus and Emily Beuschen were both 2-for-4, Cailyn Hoel and McKarus had doubles, and Olivia Enright and Kallie Eckel had base hits. Sydney Eggers took the loss in the circle.
