Royals rout Redmen, 20-2; showdown with Eagles today

FOSTORIA — Elmwood softball scored in every inning, pounding out 17 hits, in routing Fostoria, 20-2 in a Northern Buckeye Conference game Monday.

The Royals scored two runs in the first, five in the second, two in the third, nine in the fourth, and added two more in the fifth, also taking advantage of five errors, three walks, and five batters were hit by a pitch.

Leah Allison was 4-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, Mariela Garcia was 3-for-4 with a double, triple and four RBIs, and Kennadie Plouck was 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Abigail Allison was 2-for-3 with a triple, stolen base and two RBIs, Emmaline Lee was 2-for-2 with a triple and four RBIs, and Kynzie Science was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

Kate Keiffer had a double and two RBIs and she was hit by a pitch three times, scoring a game-high four runs. Tianna Galbraith was by a pitch twice and she had a sacrifice bunt.

Keiffer also got the complete game win in the circle, striking out five, walking two and giving up four hits and no earned runs through five innings. She threw 77 pitches, including 49 strikes, facing 21 batters.

Makenna Clouse took the loss in the circle for the Redmen.

Elmwood hosts Eastwood Wednesday afternoon, first pitch at 4:45 p.m., in a pivotal NBC game.
