NBC baseball: Lake’s Tobias tosses no-hitter; Eagles down Royals

FOSTORIA—Lake pitcher Caleb Tobias threw a no-hitter as the Flyers routed Fostoria, 12-0, in a Northern Buckeye Conference baseball game Wednesday.

Tobias faced the minimum 15 batters in the five-inning game, striking out five, walking none and his defense was errorless. He threw 52 pitches, including 38 strikes. His only miscue was hitting a batter.

Offensively, Lake had 12 hits as Tobias went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Drew Tajblik hit two doubles in three at bats with an RBI and stolen base.

Myles Lowe was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Matt Perry hit a triple, Nate Wagner had a double, and Jay Blazevich, Gavin Kohlhofer, and Jack Sobzack had base hits.

Blazevich had a sacrifice fly, Lowe a sacrifice bunt, Perry and Kohlhofer were hit by pitches, and Perry, Lowe, Kohlhofer and Blazevich also had stolen bases.

The only player to reach base for Fostoria was Blake Miller, who was hit by a pitch. Devon Miller started for the Redmen, pitching 2.1 innings, and Matthew Gierke tossed 2.2 innings in relief.

Eastwood 12, Elmwood 2

BLOOMDALE — Eastwood baseball stayed unbeaten at 15-0 overall and 7-0 in the Northern Buckeye Conference after defeating Elmwood, 12-2, on the road Wednesday.

Eastwood pitcher Jackson Bauer struck out five, walked one and allowed three hits and two runs while throwing 74 pitches to get the complete-game five-inning victory. He threw 48 strikes, facing 21 batters.

The Eagles had 10 hits, took advantage of five errors, seven walks, and had seven stolen bases.

Isaac Reynolds was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a stolen base, Jordan Pickerel was 2-for-3 with a double, and Case Boos had a base hit, walked, three stolen bases, and scored three runs.

Colton Woodward had a base hit and two stolen bases, and Jackson Bauer, Kadyn Donnell and Brandon Falls had base hits for the Eagles. Bauer was hit by a pitch and Andrew Badenhop reached twice on walks, scoring one run.
