The Bowling Green State University men’s basketball program and coach Todd Simon announced the signing of P.J. Edwards on Tuesday.

Edwards, a 6-foot-4 guard, will join the Falcons after spending the last two seasons at Central Florida. A native of Springfield, Ill., Edwards was a redshirt in 2021-22 before appearing in 19 games for the Knights during the 2022-23 season.

“He’s going to blossom here as a versatile guard with good size and skill,” said Simon. “P.J. will fit our culture as a hard worker, great teammate, and impactful player.”

During the 2022-23 season at UCF, Edwards shot 37.1 percent from the field over 19 games. He scored a season-high eight points three different times for the Knights, doing so against Memphis, Cincinnati and Tulsa.

Edwards added a season-high three rebounds against Western Illinois and three assists against Tulsa. He was also named to the Dean’s List during the 2021-22 campaign.

Coming out of high school following the 2020-21 academic year, Edwards was rated as high as the 17th best player in the state of North Carolina and a Top 150 recruit in the nation.

A three-star recruit by Rivals, he was ranked 137th in the class. At Liberty Heights, he averaged 16 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals per game while leading the team to a 24-3 record, resulting in being ranked as high as second in the state.
