LIME CITY — The Perrysburg Township Trustees moved forward with road resurfacing, curb and sidewalk construction projects totaling more than $600,000 for 2023.

At Wednesday’s meeting, a bid from Gerkin Paving for $591,888 was accepted for the pavement repair, resurfacing, markings and related traffic maintenance of Buttonwood Drive, Belmont Meadows Lane and Lindsay Drive.

In a separate project totaling $30,000, Quinn Construction was selected for the curb cuts, sidewalk repair and handicap accessibility ramps on Belmont Meadows Lane and Lindsay Drive.

The meeting began with two special presentations.

The first was a presentation of appreciation to the trustees and Recreation and Recycling Director Bob Warnimont by the Girl Scouts of the Perrysburg Township and Rossford area’s units 10020 and 11568.

Warnimont works with the units on their annual cookie sales fundraiser. They used the maintenance department garage bays over the previous weekend for cookie delivery operations.

The girls will be using their cookie sales to pay for their summer camp.

That was followed by a presentation of sergeants stripes to Perrysburg Township Police Patrolman and School Resource Officer Dustin Glass by Police Chief Mark Hetrick.

The fire and police departments had active months.

There were 175 EMS calls and 31 fire calls, for a total of 206 calls in March.

“This was the second busiest month in the history of the department, and this was the busiest March ever,” Fire Chief Tom Brice said. “In fact, we’re already up over 120 runs from last year.”

The following purchases were approved for the fire department:

• Vehicle cradle point modems for D.R Ebel for $5,835;

• 40 survival flashlights with recharge capability for $4,347;

• A stackable washer/dryer from Lowes for $1,551.

Trustees approved the creation of a demolition expense fund for reimbursing the township. As detailed in the Ohio Revised Code, it would provide for the securing and demolition of fire-damaged properties when the loss agreed to between the insured and insurers exceeds 60% of the aggregate limits of liability.

In preparation for the township bicentennial celebration, the fire department has been approved by trustees for the purchase of 200 T-shirts, at a total price of $2,420, to be taken from the Fire/EMS accounts.

In a joint replacement operation between the police, fire and EMS, three related purchase orders were approved by trustees for the removal, installation and replacement of township WiFi throughout the township. From PerryProTech there will be $14,589 for the WiFi equipment, and then the replacement of two servers at $2,025 and $4,050.

The zoning department was approved for additional web-based permit management and code enforcement software from iWorQ Systems. The additional services will allow for acceptance of online applications and status updates for contractors. The three-year contract will cost $4,500 annually, and includes the previous services which comprise $1,800 of that cost.

Garcia Surveyors has been approved by trustees for survey work related to the proposed township administration building. The topographical survey will be for the entire complex, including both potential locations for the building, to the south and west of the current location.

“I understand that we found some surprises when building the fire station next door,” Administrator Jon Eckel said. “The idea is to avoid that rock shelf as much as possible.”

Trustees Joe Schaller and Bob Mack were reappointed for two-year terms as representatives to the board of trustees for the Wood County Transportation Improvement district, which expires on March 31, 2025.
