The March 14 meeting was held at Sonfire in Pemberville. Tracey Briggs called the meeting to order. February minutes were approved. Treasurer Nedra Sheets reported a balance of $1,225. There are no outstanding expenses.

It was reported that there is still one remaining prospective member to be invited. This should be accomplished by the April meeting.

There was a brief discussion about raising money for the scholarship fund. An in-house auction was suggested.

Officers for the 2023-24 season will be elected at the April meeting, which will be hosted by Cindy Lohrbach. Deb Krukemyer will present the program.

After the business meeting, 16 members and one visitor answered the roll call by naming theirspring project for this year.

Betty Kahlenberg then presented a program about scleroderma which is an autoimmune disease. Autoimmune diseases are cases in which the body attacks itself. Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis are the most common of this type of disease.

There are two classes of scleroderma: localized, in which the disease is confined to the skin, and systemic which involves the skin, blood vessels, and internal organs. Both classes involve abnormal growth of connective tissue which leads to a “hardening” of the tissues involved.

St. Patrick’s Day themed refreshments were served by Kay Burrell.
