The Bowling Green Republican Club will hold a “Meet & Greet with Ward 1 City Council Candidate, David Drain” on Thursday from 6-7:30 p.m. at Mr. Spots, 206 N. Main St.

Reel Art Screening of ‘The Guilty’ at Way

PERRYSBURG — Way Public Library’s Reel Art International and Art Film Series continues on Friday at 7 p.m., with a free showing of the Danish film “The Guilty.”

In this film, a police officer is assigned to alarm dispatch duty. He then enters a race against time when he answers an emergency call from a kidnapped woman. This film is rated PG-13 with a run time of 1 hour 38 minutes.

Fish fry Friday in G. Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS — The American Legion Post 232 will have its monthly fish fry on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. or sold out. Dine in or carry out. Desserts and drinks will be available.

St. Louis School holds spaghetti supper

CUSTAR — St. Louis School, 22776 Defiance Pike, will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti supper Saturday from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

The dinner also includes a salad, bread, sundae bar and beverage for a donation. Dine in or carry out. Proceeds go to the school.

Vintage farm, construction equipment on display

Power of Yesteryear Club Inc. will present vintage farm and construction toy and memorabilia displays and show Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and April 23 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at 16623 Liberty Hi Road.

This show is open to all collectors and will feature displays of farm and construction toys, memorabilia, literature, signs and other collectables.

Vendors wishing to sell or trade farm & construction toys and memorabilia are welcome to participate. Inside tables are available to all participants at no charge, based on availability. Outside displays of tractors, equipment and parts vendors are also welcome, weather permitting.

Genealogical society meets Tuesday

The Wood County Chapter of Ohio Genealogical Society will meet on Tuesday at 6:30 pm. in the Wood County Senior Center, Room 124, 140 S. Grove St. The public is welcome.

The brief business meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Henry Stobbs, retired social studies teacher from Tiffin, as well as retired from the US Army Intelligence Corps will be the speaker. His title “Genealogical Conundrums: The Tale of Two Hugh Henrys.”

BG businessman talks about new sustainability project

Grounds for Thought co-owner Kelly Wicks will speak to the Bowling Green Exchange Club on Tuesday about a new sustainability project his business is undertaking with a farm family in the South America.

The meeting starts at noon with a buffet lunch at the Bowling Green Country Club. The public is invited to attend. The cost of lunch is $13. No reservations are needed.

The new Grounds for Thought Nature Reserve is located at the El Carmelo farm in Teruel, Huila, Colombia. Farm owners Miguel Llanos, Catalina Castillo and the Bowling Green business are partnering to reserve at least 20% of the farm for land and forest conservation.

Grounds for Thought has been working with the El Carmelo Farm since 2018 to import their special coffee directly.

The farm and nature preserve are close to the Nevado del Huila National Nature Park, which encompasses over 400,000 acres.

Grounds for Thought has offered hand-roasted coffee, pastries, used books, records and comics since 1989. Located on South Main Street in downtown, the store provides a friendly meeting place and live music concerts as well as in-store and online shopping.

Call for artists: Jazz, art fest in G. Rapids set for Aug. 13

GRAND RAPIDS — The annual Sunset Jazz and Art Festival sponsored by the Grand Rapids Arts Council will be held Aug. 13 from 2 p.m. until sunset along the towpath of the Maumee River. Rain date for the event is Aug. 20. This event will feature jazz performances, a juried art show and sale, food and beverages.

Visual artists wishing to participate will be asked to submit three photos displaying close-ups of their work by July 10. All work must be original and hand-produced by the entrant. Artists will be selected by a panel of judges consisting of art educators and members of the Grand Rapids community.

Due to space restrictions, the number of participants will be limited. They will be provided a 10 feet by 10 feet space to each. Exhibitors must furnish their own tables, chairs, display materials and tents, if desired. There will be a $50 fee per booth. For an application, call 419-206-1512 or email [email protected].
