April is Earth Month and multiple agencies are collaborating throughout Wood County to provide events geared toward conservation, education and family fun.

The 11th Annual Community Earth Day Celebration will be the culminating event held on April 22 from 2-4 p.m. This free family event is open to all and is filled with fun hands-on learning stations.

The Montessori School of Bowling Green, located at 515 Sand Ridge Road, provides an ideal backdrop for this Earth Day Celebration. Enjoy 14 acres of land and spend some time at the Black Swamp Preserve and Slippery Elm Trail while attending the event.

Plant a sunflower with BGSU, make a solar pizza box oven with the Conneaut K-Kids, take a nature walk with the Bowling Green Parks & Recreation Department, power a light bulb with the City of Bowling Green’s power generating bicycle, learn about trees with the City’s Arborist, and give the Wood County Park District’s giant Earth Ball a roll.

Interactive games will be provided by the Wood County Solid Waste District, Northwestern Water & Sewer District, and others. The Ohio EPA, Wood County Health Department, Center for Food and Culture, and Montessori School of Bowling Green will host informative, hands-on learning stations.

Come early, bring a bike, and enjoy a slow roll along the Slippery Elm Bike Trail with the Bowling Green Bike Safety Commission. This ride will begin in the Montessori School Parking Lot at noon. Riders must wear a helmet.
