BGSU’s Hudak places fifth at Denham Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bowling Green men’s golf team continued its spring season at Bellarmine’s Ernie Denham Classic at the Standard Club, a par-72, 6,762-yard course in Louisville, Ky.

The Falcons finished tied for sixth in the tournament after starting the final round in second place, but BGSU golfer Darin Hudak (73-72-69-214) shot a 69 in the final round to finish fifth at 2-under par.

Connor Gdovin (72-72-76-220) entered the final round second in the tournament and dropped to 21st at +4. Brandon Rattray (74-70-79-223) tied for No. 30 at +7 and Tom Bell (73-79-75-227) finished tied for No. 41 at +11. Ethan Irvine (79-75-75-229) rounded out the BGSU lineup tied for No. 48 at +13.

Competing as individuals, Dylan Fitchet (78-71-77-226) finished tied for No. 38 at +10 and Brady Pevarnik (78-77-75-230) finished tied for No. 51 at +14.

Fitchet led the tournament with two eagles and, along with Hudak, tied for No. 5 on par-5 scoring at -8. Hudak was also tied for No. 5 on par-3 scoring at even par.

In team scoring, Northern Kentucky (860) was 4-under par as a team, followed by Southern Indiana (869), Murray State (869), Bellarmine (873), Austin Peay (874), Bowling Green (292-289-295-876), and Belmont (876).

Rounding out the field were Lindenwood (878), UT-Martin (890), Morehead State (894), Chicago State (911), Transylvania (914), Bellarmine (919), and Transylvania (969).

The Falcons return to action April 17-18 at the RedHawk Intercollegiate hosted by Miami (OH) in Pittsburgh, Pa.
