Prep Roundup: Tajblik pitches Lake to 4-3 win over Tigers

LIBERTY CENTER — Lake scored two runs in the top of the sixth to defeat Liberty Center, 4-3, in a non-league baseball game Monday. The Flyers out hit the Tigers, 10-2, but Lake had five errors.

Drew Tajblik got the win on the mound, striking out four, walking one, and allowing two hits and one earned in pitching a seven-inning complete-game victory. Tajblik threw 100 pitches, including 71 strikes.

Tajblik and Matt Perry were both 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Nate Wagner was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Jason Blazevich, Caleb Tobias, Gavin Kohlhofer and Myles Lowe had base hits for the Flyers.

Blazevich and Aiden Young laid down sacrifice bunts and Tajblik had a stolen base for the Flyers, who left 10 baserunners stranded.

The Tigers scored the first run in the bottom of the first inning, Lake countered with two in the top of the second, and Liberty Center scored two in the bottom of the third to take a 3-2 lead, which stood until the sixth inning.

Eastwood 10, Bellevue 3

BELLEVUE — Eastwood (4-0) scored eight runs in the final three innings to record a 10-3 non-league baseball win Monday over Bellevue.

Andrew Badenhop led the Eagles, going 3-for-3 with a double and scoring three runs, Case Boos went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Kadyn Donnell, who was also the winning pitcher, went 2-for-2 and scored three runs.

The Eagles out hit the Redmen 10-5, scoring two runs in the first, two in the fourth, three in the fifth and three more in the sixth. Bellevue scored a single run in the third and added two more in the fifth.

Tinora 6, Elmwood 0

DEFIANCE — Tinora pitchers held Elmwood scoreless, spreading out five hits, as the Rams defeated the Royals, 6-0, in non-league baseball Monday. Elmwood falls to 0-3.

For Elmwood, Andrew Holland had two singles and Owen Simmons took the loss on the mound.

Lake 4, Woodmore 1

MILLBURY — Lake pitcher Kali Bedford struck out 11, walked two, allowed three hits and one earned in tossing a complete game 4-1 Northern Buckeye Conference victory over Woodmore Monday.

At the plate, Bedford was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI, Sarah Patrick was 2-for-3, and Jessie Materni had a base hit and two RBIs and Sophia Gruetter had a base hit for the Flyers. Patrick and Diem Isebell had stolen bases.

The Flyers improve to 4-0 overall while the Wildcats fall to 0-4. For both teams, it was their conference opener.

Cameran Quisno pitched for Woodmore, striking out five, walking one, allowing six hits and four earned runs.

Quisno had a double and RBI, Emmaleigh Lawrence doubled, and Kaitlyn Babka had a base hit.

Perrysburg 20, Fairdale 0

COCOA BEACH, Fla.—Perrysburg pitcher Maison Gerrard got the win as the Yellow Jackets routed Fairdale (Kentucky), 20-0, during a spring trip game on Monday. The game ended after five innings because of the mercy rule.

The Yellow Jackets out hit Fairdale 15-1 and took advantage of four errors. Hayley Griggs was 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs for Perrysburg. Kyllie Key took the loss in the circle for Fairdale.
