Falcons now winners in six of their last seven

The Bowling Green State University baseball team completed the season sweep over the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons with a 7-4 win on Tuesday.

The Falcons had previously beat the Mastodons last week in Bowling Green by a score of 8-6 to take both games of the home-and-home series. The Falcons are now winners in six of their last seven, raising the team’s record to 9-13 on the year.

Rigo Ramos got the start on the mound for the Falcons and went five innings while striking out a career-high seven on his way to his first win of the season.

Connar Penrod, Luke Krouse and Jacob Turner combined for four shutout relief innings to secure the win with Turner tallying his first save.

As for at the plate, Nathan Rose led the way with two hits in five trips to the plate, registering an RBI for the Falcons. Sam Seidel added his third home run of the season and scored three times over the course of the game.

As a freshman batting leadoff, Seidel is now tied for second on the team in home runs, second in walks drawn and leads the team in stolen bases.

Rigo Ramos tallied a career-high seven strikeouts over five innings for the Falcons, his longest outing since the 2021 season.

Rose extended his hitting streak to six games and his on-base streak to 10 games, Kyle Gurney pushed his hitting streak to eight games, and Nathan Archer also extended his hitting streak with a base knock in the game with his streak now at five games and an on-base streak at seven.

The Falcons will resume Mid-American Conference play this weekend at Central Michigan, taking on the Chippewas in a three-game series. Friday’s game is set for a 3 p.m. first pitch followed by 1 p.m. starts on both Saturday and Sunday
