BG Community Good Friday: A Tenebrae Service of Darkness

0

The Bowling Green Ministerial Association invites all to attend a Good Friday Tenebrae Service on April 7 at 8 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 315 S. College Drive.

This is an ecumenical service that will bring together clergy, lay leaders and choirs to unite in this solemn observance of Jesus’ passion and death.

Tenebrae is a Latin word meaning shadows or darkness. God’s sacrificial love is made real in the dramatic narrative of Jesus’s betrayal, arrest and crucifixion. The service marks Jesus’ journey to Golgotha and allows for extended meditation through proclamation of the word in scripture and sermon, as well as through music, increasing darkness, and silent reflection.

BGMA is a fellowship of clergy who gather to pray, share, study, communicate and plan worship, times of Christian fellowship and education for all Christian churches. The churches of the BGMA work together to organize and support Christian service organizations for the benefit of the city. It is inclusive and supportive of all clergy/churches in Bowling Green and has been a central part of the BG religious community since 1917.
