The celebration of 1BookBG will start at the end of this month.

On March 30 at 4:15 p.m., the Wood County District Public Library will host a photo shoot with Bowling Green State University’s Freddie and Freida Falcon, the Bowling Green City Schools Bobcat and St Aloysius Lion. The group will promote “Who Would Win – We all Win When We Read” to build excitement for 1BookBG.

The “Who Would Win?” series was selected as this year’s book that will be shared with all students K-5 in the city’s public, private and parochial schools.

The 1BookBG will kick off April 5 at St. Aloysius School and Bowling Green Christian Academy and April 6 at Crim, Conneaut and Kenwood elementaries and the Montessori School of Bowling Green and Sleek Academy.

Students should receive their book and materials on these days.

Fifteen local businesses are serving as mission stops from April 7-May 19. They include the library, Call of the Canyon, Bens, For Keeps, Grounds for Thought, Waddington Jewelers, Rock’em Sock’em Retro, Biggby, Tropical Smoothie, Slater Family Ice Arena, BG Community Center, Staples, Sweet Stop, Sunset Bistro and Sundae Station.

On May 14, author/illustrator Jerry Pallotta will offer a presentation at the library at 2 p.m. He will visit the schools participating in 1BookBG on May 15-16.
