BLOOMDALE — The Northwest Ohio Quiz Bowl Leagues will again hold their tournaments at Elmwood High School.
The fifth/sixth grade division will hold its championships on Wednesday while the seventh/eighth grade division championship is Thursday.
Both events will start at 4 p.m. in the auditeria and are open to the public.
The following are the results of February matches.
Hilfiker defeats Otsego
In a Feb. 13 fifth/sixth grade quiz bowl match, Hilfiker Elementary defeated Otsego Elementary, 92-64.
Top scorers were Smith McCoy for Hilfiker and Enzo Treetop for Otsego.
Coaches were Erika Montgomery at Hilfiker and Allison Ahrens at Otsego.
Gibsonburg defeats BGCA
Gibsonburg beat Bowling Green Christian Academy in a middle school/junior high quiz bowl match held Feb. 13.
Jacob Aelker led the Gibsonburg team while Nemo Barnes led his BGCA team.
Coaches were Andy Aelker for Gibsonburg and Happy Brooks for the academy.
North Baltimore downs Lake
In a Jan. 19 junior high/middle school quiz bowl match, North Baltimore defeated Lake, 84-70.
Top scorers were Levi Vanlerberg for North Baltimore and Matthew Raglow for Lake.
Coaches were Jeff Gregorsok at North Baltimore and Heather James at Lake.
Gibsonburg beats Elmwood
In a Feb. 13 quiz bowl match, Gibsonburg outscored Elmwood 92-68.
High scorer for Elmwood was Chadryk Hiser with Katie Smith at his coach Katie Smith.
High scorer for Gibsonburg was Jacob Aelker. The team’s coach is Andy Aelker.
Elmwood squeaks past Lake
Elmwood defeated Lake, 60-58, in the seventh/eighth grade division quiz bowl match held Feb. 16.
Top scorers were Chadryk Hiser for Elmwood and Matthew Raglow for Lake.
Coaches were Katie Smith and Heather Janes for Elmwood and Lake, respectively.
Woodmore beats Elmwood
In a Feb. 16 seventh/eighth grade quiz bowl match, Woodmore defeated Elmwood, 62-54.
August Hoodlebrink led the Woodmore team while Chadryk Hiser and Braxton Benner were top scorers for Elmwood.
Donna Katafias coaches at Woodmore while Katie Smith is the coach at Elmwood.
Woodmore defeats Lake
Woodmore defeated Lake in a seventh/eighth grade quiz bowl match held Feb. 16.
Allison Bankey was top scorer for Woodmore while Matthew Raglow led his Lake.
Coaches were Donna Katafias at Woodmore and Heather Janes at Lake.
Otsego slips past Lake
Otsego outscored Lake 74-58, in a middle school/junior high quiz bowl match held Feb. 22.
Top scorers for the teams were Malachi May for Otsego and Matthew Raglow for Lake.
Coaches were Allison Ahrens for Otsego and Heather Janes for Lake.
Elmwood cruises past Powell
In a fifth/sixth grade division quiz bowl match held Feb. 15, Elmwood Elementary defeated Powell Elementary 96-46.
Shipley Morlock led Elmwood while Sidney Engard was top scorer for Powell.
Coaches were Sandy Laborie at Elmwood and Allison Coldren at Powell.
Hilfilker beats Elmwood
In Feb. 23 fifth/sixth grade division quiz bowl match, Hilfiker Elementary defeated Elmwood Elementary, 92-88.
The leading scorer for Hilfiker was Smith McCoy while Laine Brubaker led his Elmwood team.
Winning Coach- Erika Montgomery coaches at Hilfiker and Sandy Laborie is the coach at Elmwood.
North Baltimore downs Eastwood
North Baltimore defeated Eastwood, 106-86, in a seventh/eighth grade division quiz bowl match held Feb. 23.
Jacob Hawkshaw led the North Baltimore team while Zander Napierala was top scorer at Eastwood.
Jeff Gregorsok coaches at North Baltimore while Ken Perkins is the coach at Eastwood.
