Eastwood freshman bowler heading to state

ROSSFORD — Eastwood freshman bowler Hayden Wahl qualified as an individual for the Division II state tournament.

During the Division II district meet at Interstate Lanes Thursday, Wahl bowled a 170-200-220—590 series to finish eighth overall and third among individuals not part of teams advancing to state.

The state tournament is Friday and Saturday, March 3-4 at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.

The Rossford boys team finished ninth and Eastwood finished 11th as the Bulldogs and Eagles failed to advance as teams to state.

Coldwater (4,171), Liberty Center (3,950) and Minster (3,943) are advancing to the state tournament. The Bulldogs were 386 pins out of the cut, Eastwood 471 pins away.

The high series was by Coldwater senior Hayden Beougher (195-217-258—670).

Napoleon (3,837) finished fourth, followed by Wynford (3,744), Kenton (3,613), Ottawa-Glandorf (3,573), St. Henry (3,572), Rossford (3,557), Willard (3,524), Eastwood (3,472) and Liberty-Benton (3,460).

The Rossford squad bowled games of 860-811-839—2,510 and had Baker games of 199-190-181-180-154-143—1,047.

For the Bulldogs, sophomore Quintan Borden bowled a 194-177-198—569 series, junior Trevor Wayne bowled 193-167-192—552, senior Owen Hill bowled 160-185-180—525 and senior Ethan Jones bowled 160-174-131—465.

Sophomore Billy Graffius IV bowled a 153 and substitutions bowled 108 and 138 for Rossford.

The Eastwood team bowled games of 764-842-861—2,467 and Baker games of 201-144-175-155-190-140—1,005.

Besides Wahls, Eastwood bowlers were senior Austin Shiffler (162-225-157—544), senior Robby Rothenbuhler (172-131-179—482) and junior Jordan Kieper (146-148-132—426).

Senior Trent Marten bowled 114 and 173 games and junior Josh Beard bowled a 138 game for the Eagles.

Jackets, Bobcats fail to advance

FREMONT — In Division I girls sectional bowling at Plaza Lanes Thursday, Perrysburg finished fifth, one spot of the running to advance to district, while BG finished eighth.

However, Perrysburg junior Lydia Williams will advance to the district tournament as an individual after bowling a 139-122-149—410 series to place 17th overall and fourth out of individuals not on a team qualifying for district.

Ashland sophomore Aubrie Cooke had the high individual series, bowling 174-226-163—563.

The girls Division I district tournament is at Star Lanes at the Harbor in Port Clinton on Friday, March 3 beginning at 10 a.m.

Ashland won the team bowling sectional championship with 3,412 pins and they will advance to district as a team along with Lexington (2,964), Sandusky (2,858) and Clyde (2,804).

Perrysburg was fifth with 2,455 pins, followed by Mansfield Senior (2,374), Tiffin Columbian (2,272), BG (2,051), and Norwalk (1,995).

Perrysburg had a team series of 661-565-569—1,795 and Baker games of 106-104-109-93-135-113—660.

Perrysburg junior Lydia Williams bowled 139-122-149—410, sophomore Julia Gahn bowled 127-123-122—373, and sophomore Ryley Williard bowled 138-104-108—350.

Perrysburg junior Mackenzie Wozniak bowled games of 129 and 99, and substitutes bowled games of 118, 117, 97 and 93.

BG’s team series was 493-465-558—1,516 and Baker scores were 84-101-80-106-86-78—535.

BG sophomore Maya Beagle bowled 123-107-116—346, senior Haley Roberts bowled 94-96-117—307, sophomore Ali Murphy bowled 102-97-116—315 and freshman Addison Nickey bowled 97-88-115—300.

BG sophomore Delanie Jarvi bowled two straight 77 games and freshman Magdelin Landry bowled a 94 game,
