365 Days of War in Ukraine: Update on work of Toledo Helps Ukraine/4UA.org

ROSSFORD — When the war on Ukraine began on Feb. 24, 2022, Alona Matchenko and Hope Luther, law students at the University of Toledo, mobilized to assist Ukrainians impacted by Russia’s unlawful invasion.

The result was the creation of a nonprofit, Toledo Helps Ukraine/4UA.org. Now, nearly 365 days later, the war continues in Ukraine.

As the one-year mark of the invasion is here, Ukraine Toledo Helps Ukraine/4UA.org, in conjunction with St. Michaels’ Ukrainian Catholic Church, invites the public to an event welcoming Ukrainians that THU has helped to bring to safety to through the U4U initiative. The event will be held at the church hall, 135 Walnut St. at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

THU/4UA.org will provide the community with an update on the ongoing work of Toledo Helps Ukraine/4UA.org and offer the Ukrainian refugees who they have arranged to come to Ohio an opportunity to meet and enjoy some camaraderie and fellowship.

Alona Matchenko, co-founder of 4UA.org, will speak to the community about the work of the non-profit over the past year and its current needs, including sponsors for Ukrainians awaiting to come to the United States. THU/4UA.org will also have items available for sale.
