Stringfellow scores 10, but Lawrence Tech edges Lourdes

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Lawrence Tech closed on a 15-3 run to rally and defeat the Lourdes University womens basketball team 68-64 on Wednesday evening inside the Ridler Fieldhouse.

Macie Stringfellow (Perrysburg) scored 10 points, but the Gray Wolves fell short.

Lourdes scored the game’s first six points before the Blue Devils tallied nine straight points of their own in the opening period to take a 17-16 lead after 10 minutes.

Trailing 21-20 early in the second, the Gray Wolves scored seven of the next nine points to jump in front, a lead Lourdes would maintain until the final two minutes of the contest. The Gray Wolves extended their advantage to six, 36-30, by intermission.

Lawrence Tech closed to within two with 6:30 to play in the third before the Gray Wolves scored nine straight points, pushing the lead to double figures, 52-41.

Lourdes then carried an eight-point edge into the final stanza. Again, the Blue Devils battled back to within two, 54-52, with less than eight minutes remaining in the game, but the Gray Wolves scored the next seven points in a two-minute span to reestablish a nine-point advantage.

The Gray Wolves would manage just one field goal over the final 5:30 of the game. A basket by Jade Farris with 1:24 to play tied the game at 63 and the Blue Devils took the lead with 37 seconds remaining on a Kendall Fisher hoop.

Halle Barnett (Sylvania Southview) split a pair of free throws with 11.9 seconds left on the clock before Lawrence Tech made three free throws in the final 10 seconds to earn the win.

Shae Pedroza (Napoleon) and Emma Pedroza (Napoleon) each tallied 16 points for Lourdes while Fisher led Lawrence Tech (12-15, 9-10 WHAC) with 17 points while Faris and Julia Huey each chipped in 10 points.

Lourdes (9-18, 6-13) will close out the regular season on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. to face 16th-ranked Indiana Tech. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. inside the Schaefer Center.
