Woman recants sex assault allegations

A woman who reported a sexual assault in downtown Bowling Green last month has recanted her allegations.

The Bowling Green Police Division released a statement on Wednesday with a follow-up to the Jan. 29 report.

“After further investigation and gathering of evidence, the person who reported the sexual assault has recanted her original statements about what happened. The investigation into the alleged sexual assault has been closed,” the release stated.

The 20-year-old woman initially said that she was raped at a downtown bar.
