The Mid-American Conference announced that 15 members of the Bowling Green football team have been named to the 2022 Academic All-MAC team.
The 15 Falcons breaks the program record set last season with 14. In coach Scot Loeffler’s four-year tenure, BGSU has four of its top five outputs in program history for representation on the Academic All-MAC team.
Darren Anders, Dontrez Brown, Levi Gazarek, Demetrius Hardamon, Brock Horne, Matt McDonald, Jordan Porter and Jake Rogers have earned the honor multiple times in their career.

Cross country
Nine BGSU cross country student-athletes were named to the Academic All-MAC Team.
The women’s team ranks fourth in the conference with six honorees while three men’s cross country student athletes also received the award. Five of Bowling Green’s nine honorees currently boast a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Bowling Green’s list includes Raegan Burkey, Kristin Groppe, Elise Johnson, Kailee Perry, Katerina Shuble and Emma Steingass on the women’s side, as well as Christian Gagliardi, Charlie Nowinski and Omar Vazquez on the men’s side.
Shuble, Johnson, Perry, Groppe, Gagliardi and Vazquez have all received the honor multiple times, while sophomores Burkey, Steingass and Nowinski all earned the award in their first year of eligibility.

A total of 14 Bowling Green State University men’s soccer student-athletes have been named to the Academic All-MAC.
BGSU’s list includes Joey Akpunonu, Alberto Anaya, Jake Bergin, Kyle Blasingame, Kyle Cusimano, Gaetano D’Argento, Josh Erlandson, Abdi Faqi, Brendan Graves, Jensen Lukacsko, Sergi Martinez, Nathan Masters, Kale Nichols and Eli Shope.
BGSU’s total was the highest in the conference.
Lukacsko and Nichols each were named to the team for the fourth consecutive year, while Faqi made the academic all-conference squad for the third-straight season. Akpunonu and Cusimano landed on the team for the second consecutive year.

BGSU volleyball
The MAC announced a total of 89 student-athletes were named across the conference with Bowling Green totaling nine.
Akron led the way with 10, followed closely by Bowling Green, Ball State and Ohio, all with nine.
The Falcons have had at least nine student-athletes recognized in four consecutive seasons and at least seven in each of the last seven seasons.
“How you do anything is how you do everything’ is something we emphasize and teach our student-athletes,” BGSU coach Danijela Tomic said. “It is not surprising that our team continues to exemplify the culture of excellence not only on the court but more importantly in the classroom.”
