BGSU’s Weilbacher places fourth in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team placed fourth on Saturday afternoon at Arizona’s quad-meet with a score of 192.05, which was held at the hallowed McKale Center.

Host No. 28 Arizona came away with the win and a score of 195.875. No. 15 Illinois was on the Wildcats’ heels at 195.725 to place second, while Texas Woman’s placed third with a score of 193.75.

Kathryn Weilbacher led BGSU, finishing fourth in the all-around with a score of 38.775.

Dahlia Solorzano-Caruso also competed in the all-around and finished fifth with a score of 38.3. Taylor Jensen was BGSU’s third all-around competitor who finished sixth in the event with a score of 37.975.

Isabella Rivelli had a personal best on bars (9.8) and finished tied for fifth in the event, which was the best finish in any single event by a Falcon.

Solorzano-Caruso matched her BGSU personal best on the vault with a 9.7, Jensen had a season-best 9.625 on bars, and Megan Bingham had a personal record on bars with a 9.75.

Elise Brzoska made her collegiate debut on beam with a 9.5, Madison Coburn had a personal record on floor with a 9.525, and Emily Castiglia had a personal best on the floor with a 9.675.

Bowling Green is next in action on Fri., Jan. 20 when BGSU hosts MAC foe Western Michigan in its home opener. The home event will be contested at Anderson Arena at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
