Man arrested in BG for having gun while drunk

A Maumee man was arrested after he allegedly tried to break into a Manville Avenue home.

A Bowling Green Police Division officer responded to the area on Tuesday at 2:38 a.m.

A man was reportedly trying to break into a residence, then ran northbound. He reportedly damaged the door with his shoulder, trying to get in the residence.

Police had a suspect, due to another incident in the area, according to the report.

Andrew Burkhart, 21, with a Maumee address, reportedly answered the door and the officer noticed a gun in his pants.

After questioning and being administered a horizontal gaze test, Burkhart was arrested for use of weapons while intoxicated and attempted burglary. He was taken to jail.

Burkhart reportedly told officers that he was looking for someone who had egged his residence.
