Carolyn Keys, 73, of Portage passed away Friday, December 30, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Carolyn was born on May 23, 1949 in Bowling Green, Ohio to the late L. Maynard and Donna (Ballard) Chapman. She married David Troxell in 1968 and he preceded her in death in 1974. She then married Tom Keys in December of 1976 and he survives after 46 years of marriage.
Carolyn is also survived by her children: Charolyn Kelly of Bowling Green, Holly (Mike) Gilsdorf of Bowling Green and John (Jennifer) Keys of Swanton; grandchildren: Nathan (Carrie Mann) Neal; Gabriel Kelly, Mason Gilsdorf, Mya Gilsdorf, Evelyn Keys and Merida Keys; mother in-law Ruth Troxell ; sister in-laws Laura Chapman, Eileen Foate, Connie Mears, Marilyn Keys; brother-in law Ray Keys, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother Larry Chapman.
Carolyn was a 1967 graduate of Bowling Green High School and worked at Bowling Green State University in the Career Center and then at Cooper Standard where she retired as the office manager. Carolyn was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Portage. Carolyn was a tremendous cook and baker. She was a proud supporter of all her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She and Tom enjoyed traveling around the world. Carolyn was a loving individual who had a giving heart. She would help anyone in a time of need.
A Time of Gathering will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory, 1460 W. Wooster St., Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Carolyn’s Celebration of Life Service will be on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
