PERRYSBURG — Registration for Safety Town begins on Jan. 1. New this year, all registration and payments will be done online on the city’s website (www.ci.perrysburg.oh.us).

Safety Town is for children who reside in Perrysburg and will be entering kindergarten or first grade in the fall. Its purpose is to teach basic safety education focusing on pedestrian, bicycle, bus, and recreational safety. The program will run June 5-16 at Woodland Elementary School. Parents can register their child for either the morning (9-11 a.m.) or afternoon (noon-2 p.m.) session. Each session is limited to 120 children.

The city will be taking reservations and payments online. This is the same online portal that was used last summer for summer recreation programs. Parents who signed up for Summer Rec through that website can log in with the same credentials. Parents using the online portal for the first time can follow the steps to create an account.

There is a $35 fee to help defray the costs such as materials, snacks, drinks, special events, equipment and personnel. All payments are to be made online at the time of registration.
