LEXINGTON, Ky. – Bowling Green 6-foot senior outside hitter Petra Indrova and 6-0 freshman right side/setter Lauryn Hovey, were announced as honorable mention All-Northeast Region selections by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Tuesday.

This is the third All-Region team for Indrova and the first for Hovey.

The accolades add to a long list this season for both Indrova and Hovey. For Indrova, she was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, becoming the third Falcon to win the award multiple times.

Hovey was named as the MAC Freshman of the Year, the fourth in program history. Both were named All-MAC First Team as well.

Indrova and Hovey bring BGSU’s All-Northeast Region tally to 16 in program history. Indrova is the second player in program history to be named three times, joining Tammy Schiller, and Hovey is the first freshman in program history to be named.

“We are proud and happy that Petra and Lauryn were recognized for their outstanding play and contributions to our team’s success this season,” BGSU coach Danijela Tomic said. “To be an honorable mention in one of the strongest regions in the nation is a big accomplishment and a compliment not just for Petra and Lauryn but for our program as well.”

Over the course of the 2022 season, Indrova tallied a team-high 12 double-doubles for the Falcons. Indrova led BGSU in kills and finished second in digs with 332 of each.

In doing so, she became the first BGSU player since 2012 to have 300-plus kills and 300-plus digs in the same season.

Indrova registered two 20-dig matches this season as well, including a career-high 29 against DePaul on Sept. 3. Indrova’s season accolades included MAC Player of the Year, All-MAC First Team, MAC All-Tournament Team and two-time MAC East Offensive Player of the Week.

Hovey tallied three triple-doubles, being one of 10 players in the nation with three or more triple-doubles and just one of two freshmen.

In her third triple-double, Hovey landed the first 20-kill match of the season with 22 in the MAC Championship. The outing earned Hovey the MAC Tournament MVP.

Hovey added seven double-doubles as well. Her list of accolades include MAC Tournament MVP, MAC Freshman of the Year, MAC All-Tournament Team, All-MAC First Team, MAC All-Freshman Team, two-time MAC East Offensive Player of the Week and two-time MAC East Setter of the Week.
