John Edward Goris, 79, of Weston, Ohio passed away Saturday night, December 3, 2022 at Brookdale Senior Living, Bowling Green, Ohio.

He was born December 4, 1942 in Custar, Ohio to the late Emil and Dolores (Maas) Goris.

On January 7, 1961 he married Rita (Chamberlain) Goris at St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar. She preceded him in death on December 8, 2018. Together they shared over 57 years of marriage. They took many adventures on his Gold Wing Motorcycles, camping throughout the country and polka dancing whenever they found the opportunity. They met many new friends and made lasting relationships. He was a member of the Honda Gold Wing Riders Motorcycle Club and the Polka Boosters of Ohio. They enjoyed many years as snowbirds in Zephyrhills, Florida.

John worked for over 43 years at The Andersons in Maumee, Ohio. A dedicated employee, he worked in various divisions including lawn warehousing, service center and The Andersons Retail Store.

He was a lifetime member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar. As a boy, he served daily mass and as an adult he remained active as a lector, communion distributor and serving on the church festival committee and bingo caller.

John was an avid fan of John Deere. His collection existed of hundreds of toy John Deere tractors and numerous keepsakes. His greatest joy always remained his family and he enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could.

He is survived by his children, Lori (David) Bradshaw; Bonnie (Thomas) Weiker; John W. Goris (Renee Wilhelm); Russell (Susan) Goris; 12 grandchildren, Danielle (Jonathan) Dunkin; Aaron Ackerman (Cody Irby); Alex (Courtnee) Weiker; Mollie Weiker (Dan Ford); Zachary Goris; Rachel Goris; Natalie Goris; Jacob Goris; 4 great granddaughters, Larrisa Dunkin; Kelsey Dunkin; Chloe Weiker; Aria Weiker; sisters, Linda (Robert) Boyle and Rita (Ronald) Trumbull.

He was also preceded in death by a son, James Goris and brother, Robert Goris.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar, Ohio with Fr. Walter Tuscano officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery and a fellowship luncheon will follow in the St. Louis School basement.

Visitation will be from 1-3 & 5-7 p.m. on Friday at Feehan-Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler with a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to St. Louis Catholic School or Rachel and Friends.
