Robert “Bob” Harold Goetz, age 85, of Helena, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 11, 1937, in Helena to the late Harold & Creta (Hef ner) Goetz. Bob married Jeanette Ruth Wright on July 1, 1961, at the Wayne United Methodist Church.
Surviving Bob is his loving wife of 61 years, Jeanette; sons, Jef rey (Tamara) Goetz of Onsted, Michigan, Thomas Goetz of Findlay; brother, Donald (June) Goetz of Helena; sisters, Patricia Frederick of Gibsonburg, Barbara (Gerald) Sams of Swansboro, North Carolina; grandchildren, Elliott (Ellen) Goetz, Aubrey (Trevor) Williamson, Cassie (Kaitlyn) Walker, Lexi Sparks; and great-grandson, Beck Robert Williamson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold & Creta; and brother, Richard Goetz.
Bob was a 1955 graduate of Gibsonburg High School, served his country proudly in the United States Navy for two years, and was then employed at Brush-Wellman(Materion) in numerous capacities during his 41 year career. He was an active member of the Wayne United Methodist Church, serving as a board member for many years and participating in Volunteers in Mission, where he helped build churches in Mexico for two years. He was also a major organizer of the church’s Apple Dumpling Gang. Bob was a lifelong farmer and a member of Sandusky County Restorers of Antique Power (SCRAP), where he was an officer and board member. He proudly displayed his restored family heirloom Massey Harris-Ferguson tractors at numerous events. Bob loved spending time with his family boating, teaching people to water ski and enjoying summer vacations in Canada and winters in Florida. Over the years Bob and Jeanette enjoyed opening their farm to school children with field trips to The Pumpkin Patch.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Wayne United Methodist Church with Pastor Tamara Bennett and Pastor Vernagaye Sullivan officiating. Military honors will be performed by the Wood County Military Detail. Fellowship and refreshments immediately following at the church. All arrangements have been entrusted to Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Bridge Hospice, Wayne United Methodist Church, SCRAP, or to the local FFA Chapter or 4-H club.
