Open house set at new NAMI building in BG

National Alliance on Mental Illness Wood County is hosting an open house on Nov. 29 at their new location at 1250 Ridgewood Drive from 4-7 p.m.

The open house will include a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. provided by the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce. From 4-5:30p.m., community partners and professionals are welcome to view the space.

Beginning at 5:30p.m., community members and families are welcome to attend, and participate in fun holiday activities, including ornament crafting and photos with Santa. Guests are encouraged to wear an “Ugly Holiday Sweater” to be entered into a raffle drawing. Guests can submit multiple entries in the raffle by donating to the organization in honor of Giving Tuesday.

The Wellness Recovery Action Plan workshop takes place on Nov. 17 and 18 from 10 a.m.-4p.m. both days at NAMI.

Wood County is also hosting another “chip-in” volunteer day on Nov. 15. This day will consist of creating care packages to give out to people in the Wood County community this holiday season. To participate, visit www.namiwoodcounty.org to sign up.

To become a NAMI Wood County member, visit the website. Membership levels range from $5 to $60. There are volunteer opportunities to get involved as a support group or class facilitator, office volunteer, and more.

NAMI Wood County is also continuing the NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group as hybrid. Peer and Family Support Group has been moved to the Perrysburg Counseling Center.
