Unbeaten Eastwood, Lake teams advance to district

Eastwood 9, Northwood 0

PEMBERVILLE — Eastwood girls soccer defeated Northwood, 9-0, Thursday to advance to the Division III district tournament next week. The Eagles opened a 6-0 halftime lead.

Eastwood freshman Piper Sutton had a three-goal hat trick to lead the Eagles’ attack.

The Eagles, ranked 14th in the state coaches’ poll, improve to 15-0-2 on the season. Eastwood is ranked second in the Northwest District poll behind Ottawa-Glandorf.

Senior Hannah Montag, juniors Delaine Zura and Amelia Ward and freshmen Kenna Nelson and Grace Meter scored for the Eagles, plus Eastwood added one on a Northwood own goal.

Montag and junior Reilly Might had two assists apiece, and Meter, seniors Grace Kingery and Kayden Firsdon, sophomore Sam Brooks and freshman Kennedy Ameling had one assist each.

Northwood, which defeated Evergreen 3-2 on Monday to play Eastwood, bows out at 6-12.

Eastwood will take on Woodmore (12-3-1) in the district semifinals Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Genoa High School. The Eagles defeated the Wildcats twice, 2-1 and 1-0, during the regular season.

The Eastwood-Woodmore winner will take on the Swanton-Ottawa Hills winner for the district championship on Oct. 29 at noon at Genoa.

Lake 2, Wauseon 0

MILLBURY — Kaiden Reed and Greyson Reed scored as Lake soccer defeated Wauseon, 2-0, Thursday to advance to the Division II boys district tournament. Kaiden Reed had the assist on Greyson’s goal.

Lake goalkeeper Holden Wodrich needed one save for the shutout.

Lake stays unbeaten at 14-0-3 and will take on Delta (15-0-3) in the district semifinals at Lake Community Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Wauseon sees its season end at 9-7-2.

The Lake-Delta winner will take on the Bowling Green (9-7-2)-Maumee (10-8) winner on Thursday at 5 p.m. for the district championship.

In the final Northwest District soccer coaches’ poll, Delta was ranked fourth, Lake fifth, BG seventh and Maumee tied for ninth with Wauseon.

Lake 3, Rossford 0

MILLBURY — Lake volleyball swept Rossford 25-15, 25-12, 25-11 Thursday to stay unbeaten at 24-0 and advance to the Division II district tournament.

Lake leaders were Taryn DeWese with 13 kills, 12 assists, and 12 digs, Ella Vorst with eighth kills, Vayda Delventhal with 18 assists, and Zoe Ager with 16 digs and five kills.

Rossford sees its season end at 11-13. Lake, ranked fourth in the state poll, will take on Sandusky Perkins Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Seneca East High School in Attica, Ohio.

The Lake-Perkins winner will take on the Vermilion-Lexington winner in the district final on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Seneca East. Vermilion is ranked 13th in the state poll.
