Eastwood girls soccer clinches share of title

PEMBERVILLE — Nine different Eastwood players scored, four in the first half and five in the second half, as the Eagles routed Rossford, 9-0, in Northern Buckeye Conference girls soccer Thursday.

The win clinches at least a share of the NBC title for the Eagles.

“The girls have had a great season so far and continue to get better every day,” said coach Julie Cross, who has been with the program for eight years, including seven years serving as an assistant under Megan Rutherford.

Cross says “a lot of the credit” goes to Rutherford, too, for building the program to where it is today.

Seniors scoring for Eastwood in Thursday’s win were seniors Emma Downs, Kayden Firsdon, Grace Kingery, Hannah Montag, and Emelisa Paredes.

Also scoring were juniors Abby Rothenbuhler and Delaine Zura and freshmen Piper Sutton and Lilly Beckwith.

Montag had five assists, Zura had two assists, and Rothenbuhler and Sutton had one assist each.

Eastwood, which is receiving votes in the Division III state coaches’ poll, improves to 12-0-1 overall and 8-0 in the league. Rossford falls to 3-10 and 0-8.

Bowling Green 10, Tiffin Columbian 0

Nine different Bowling Green players scored as the Bobcats routed Tiffin Columbian, 10-0, in boys socccer at Bobcat Stadium Thursday.

Tomas Meek led the Bobcats with two goals. BG improves to 8-4-2.

Aaron Mejiritski, Alec Ross, Mathias Drumm, Ethan Decker, Paul Archer, Luca Brininger, Mason Mitov, and Joey Hover scored one goal apiece for BG.

Otsego 7, Woodmore 1

TONTOGANY—Markel Aranbarri had a three-goal hat trick in leading Otsego boys soccer to a 7-1 win over Woodmore in Northern Buckeye Conference action Thursday. Aranbarri now has 14 goals this season.

Hudson Thomas scored twice and Travis Merrill and Silas Robertson scored one goal apiece for the Knights.

Otsego improves to 7-6 overall and 5-3 in the NBC while Woodmore falls to 3-9-1 and 2-7.

Lake 3, Otsego 1

TONTOGANY — Lake volleyball improved to 20-0 overall and 12-0 in the Northern Buckeye Conference, clinching at least a share of the league title by defeating Otsego 25-11, 25-13, 22-25, 25-10 Thursday.

Perrysburg 3, Sylvania Southview 0

SYLVANIA — Perrysburg volleyball kept its hopes for a Northern Lakes League volleyball title alive by sweeping Southview, 25-7, 25-14, 25-10, Thursday.

Perrysburg is 14-5 overall and 10-2 in the NLL, while the Cougars fall to 4-14 and 1-11.

Marten shoots 89 at Eagles Landing

OREGON — At the Division II district golf tournament Thursday, Eastwood senior Trent Marten shot 43-46—89 at Eagles Landing Golf Club, 13 strokes short of qualifying for the state meet.
