Hovey named MAC East Offensive Player of the Week

Bowling Green’s freshman outside hitter Lauryn Hovey was named the Mid-American Conference East Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. This is Hovey’s first time receiving the recognition as a Falcon.

Hovey was excellent on the court for the Falcons in the weekend sweep over Kent State. Hovey logged a double-double with kills and assists in each match. On Friday, the double-double was fueled by 11 kills along with a career-high 21 assists. Hovey also led the team in blocks for the match with one solo and four block assists.

As for Saturday, Hovey landed a team-high 15 kills to match her career-high to go along with a .481 hitting percentage. She added 16 assists and six digs, coming just four digs shy of a triple-double. Hovey also tied for the team-high in aces with three for the match as well as having three block assists.

The Falcons will return home to the Stroh Center to host the Ohio Bobcats for two matches. The first is set for a 6 p.m. first serve on Friday before the weekend series concludes on Saturday with a 4 p.m. start. Friday will be Dollar Night, featuring dollar tickets and concessions, while Saturday will be Title IX Night.
