Congratulations to Pemberville native Mary Jaquillard on her marriage to Robert Catalano, a native of
Hudson, Ohio.
“It was a surprise for our parents,” Jaquillard said. “We told them it was an engagement dinner.”
James and Liane Jaquillard and Martin and Rosemarie Catalano met with their children in Vermilion where
they went to Chez Francois for dinner.
“After we ordered our 8-course meal, Rob mentioned how beautiful it was here, the fall colors, the river
and Lake Erie,” Jaquillard said. “He mentioned that Vermilion is the home of Great Lakes Captains so if
we only had a captain, we could get married.”
Capt. Wayne E. Bratton of the cruise boat Holiday and S.S. William G. Mather was in on the plan and was
“on deck” to marry the pair. The newlyweds spent their wedding night at the Old Vermilion Jailhouse Bed
& Breakfast.
“It’s actually a very romantic venue,” Jaquillard said.
