An emotional day had a perfect ending Sunday afternoon at the Stroh Center.

‘‘Senior
Day hits you. It hits you right in the gut. It hits you in your heart. It hits you in your head. It’s a
tough combination,’’ BG head coach Jennifer Roos said. ‘‘For those three to play so well today, I am
very proud of them.
On the court the seniors — Jillian Halfhill, Alexis Rogers and Jill Stein — each scored in double figures
to help the Falcons roll past Ohio, 63-39.
‘‘Its come in waves,’’ Stein said. ‘‘Yesterday (Saturday) after practice was done and we were at home,
just hanging out and resting up, I got thinking about it a little bit … My time to play an organized
basketball game, really competitively, and at such a high level, is coming to an end.’’
With two Mid-American Conference games remaining, Bowling Green has earned one of the top two seeds and a
spot in the semifinals for the conference tournament.
‘‘There is a ton of stuff to keep our minds off of being done,’’ Stein said.
Halfhill led the Falcons with 12 points, Rogers scored 11 and had a team-high four assists, and Stein had
a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
‘‘We have honestly been trying to avoid this subject, because it is kind of an uneasy thing to think
about,’’ Stein said about conversations with her fellow seniors.
Roos has been with the current senior class for their entire career at Bowling Green, including the last
two years as head coach.
‘‘They have done a lot, and then some. They have over-achieved, they’ve played hard, they have been loyal
to this program. They have matured, and they have grown into young women,’’ Ross said about the seniors.

“Senior Day is hard,… They deserve a little extra attention on Senior Day and I think they got that,’’
Roos added.
The Falcons were somewhat sluggish to start the game, but led 28-16 at the half.
‘‘With Senior Day and everything there are lots of emotions for the three of us especially. It took us a
minute to get settled down after the introductions with our parents and baby pictures and stuff up on
the big screen,’’ Stein said. ‘‘OU, to their credit, had really good pressure … We got a little bit
disjointed at times.’’
‘‘I did not call a great game. I felt I created some of the stagnant offense,’’ Roos said.
Bowling Green started the second half with a 10-0 run and led by as many as 25 points, before finishing
with the 24-point win.
‘‘I thought we executed better in the second half,’’ Roos said. ‘‘We were getting layups … and then
getting some 3-point opportunities as well.’’
Miriam Justinger who had started the first 27 games this season for the Falcons, was ill and was not in
uniform for the game. With Justinger out, the Falcons had only three subs on the bench.
‘‘She’s not 100 percent healthy, so she’s going to see a doctor this week,’’ Roos said about Justinger.

NOTES: BG is 25-3 overall and 15-1 in the MAC … Ohio drops to 9-18, 4-12 … The Falcons are 13-0 at
the Stroh Center this season … The three seniors combined for 34 points, 21 rebounds, eight assists,
three steals, and three blocked shots with seven turnovers … All eight Falcons scored in the game …
BG held a 32-12 edge on points in the paint … It was the 10th time this season the Falcons have held
an opponent to 50 or fewer points, including three games with fewer than 40 points … Rogers is 24th on
BG’s career scoring list with 1,152 points … Bowling Green plays at Miami Wednesday at noon and closes
out the regular season with a game Saturday at Akron with tipoff at 2 p.m.
