Ohio had an answer every time the Bowling Green Falcon men’s basketball team tried to get back into the
game Tuesday at the Stroh Center.
And Bowling Green, which came into the contest No. 2 defensively in the Mid-American Conference allowing
63.5 points per game, had no answers for Ohio’s offense. PHOTO GALLERY

The end result was a 72-61 Ohio victory on BG’s Senior Night.
‘‘We couldn’t get enough stops to dig ourselves out of the hole,’’ BG head coach Louis Orr said about his
team’s defense in the second half. ‘‘For us to be a good defensive team tonight, we had to make them
miss, and to me we weren’t as engaged defensively.’’
The Falcons led 15-14 midway through the first half, but Ohio scored the next 10 points and BG never
recovered.
Ohio held a 33-21 lead at the half as the Bobcats were 5-of-9 on 3-pointers in the opening 20 minutes,
and Nick Kellogg scored 14 of his game-high 25 points in the first 20 minutes for the Bobcats.
‘‘We were a little sluggish (on offense) in the first half,’’ Orr said. ‘‘Kellogg had a big game …
Offensively he’s a guy that can put the ball in the basket … You have to do a good job on Kellogg, and
we didn’t do that.’’
Bowling Green played better offensively in the second half, making 13-of-26 shots from the field (50
percent).
However, Ohio was even better going 13-of-19 (68.7 percent) from the field, including another 5-of-9
performance on 3-pointers.
‘‘They shot the lights out,’’ BG’s Cameron Black said. ‘‘From my angle our ball pressure wasn’t very
good, they were blowing by us … and they were kicking it out for threes. We weren’t closing out hard
on the kick-outs, and that’s where most of it came from.
‘‘We take pride in our defense. This game it just wasn’t there,’’ he added.
Ohio led by 17 early in the second half, and the Falcons could only get as close as seven points, 65-58,
with 1:27 left in the game after a steal and a dunk by Anthony Henderson.
‘‘Defensively we just weren’t good enough,’’ Orr said. ‘‘In order to play good defense, you have to have
good energy. Our team defense, especially in the halfcourt, were just weren’t sharp; we weren’t on
point.’’
Richaun Holmes led the Falcons with 20 points, going 9-of-10 from the free-throw line, and five rebounds
before fouling out with 4:22 left in the game. Henderson added 12 points and matched his career-high
with five steals. Spencer Parker contributed 11 points.
Holmes was the focus of BG’s offense in the second half, scoring 16 of BG’s 40 points in the half.
Black and Craig Sealey, BG’s two seniors were recognized before the game.
‘‘I just love my coaches and my teammates. I’m going to miss playing with them, and being around them
every day,’’ Black said.
‘‘My parents probably won’t send me to anyone else than coach Orr,’’ Black added. ‘‘He’s been a real
father figure and a man of God. He’s somebody to look up to.’’
NOTES: With the loss the Falcons will be on the road for the first-round of the MAC tournament Monday …
The Falcons close out the regular season Saturday at Buffalo with tipoff at 2:30 p.m. … BG is 12-18
overall and 6-11 in the MAC, having lost nine of its last 12 games …. Ohio is 20-10, 10-7 … BG
scored 18 points off turnovers, and had a 7-0 edge on second-chance points, and a 36-28 advantage on
points in the paint … Five Falcons played 31 or more minutes.
