Six people injured in crashes

Six people were taken to area hospitals following crashes in Wood County Thursday.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Office reports that in the 19000 block of U.S. 6, in Weston, Lindsay
Malanowski, Grand Rapids was westbound when she struck a westbound vehicle driven by Colleen Stiveson,
Weston, from behind.
Malanowski’s vehicle then drove off the road and into a field, and struck railroad tracks, subsequently
becoming airborne and coming to rest after overturning. Stiveson’s vehicle went off the road and struck
a utility box.
Malanowski sustain incapacitating injuries and was taken by Life Flight to Mercy St. Vincent Medical
Center, Toledo. Stiveson and her passenger, Thomas Dennis Jr., Perrysburg, were taken to Wood County
Hospital by Weston and Mid County EMS, respectively.
Malanowski was cited for assured clear distance ahead.
In the 5000 block of Route 6, a vehicle driven by Jennifer Trimble, Wayne, struck another vehicle driven
by Ruth Alexander, Wayne. Trimble’s passenger, 2-year-old Logan Brown, was taken to Wood County Hospital
by Freedom Township EMS with non-incapacitating injuries.
Trimble was cited for assured clear distance ahead.
In another crash, A vehicle driven by Debra Ruggles, Rudolph, was westbound at Cygnet Road and Interstate
75 when Ruggles’ vehicle struck a concrete rail. The roadway was icy. Ruggles’ vehicle was subsequently
struck by Aaron Speegle, Grand Rapids, who was also westbound.
Ruggles and Speegle were taken to Wood County Hospital by North Baltimore and Bloomdale EMS,
respectively.
Ruggles was cited for reasonable control and driving under suspension. Speegle was cited for assured
clear distance ahead.
