Prep Roundup: BGHS hockey beats Findlay (2-8-14)

Jeremy Chambers’ second goal of the game goal broke a 2-2 tie with 5:56 remaining Friday and Bowling
Green held on for a 4-2 win over Findlay in a Northwest Hockey Conference Red Division game at The Cube.

Chambers gave BG the lead after Findlay scored twice in the second period to tie the game.
Aaron Crawford’s empty-net goal with 1:08 left clinched BG’s fifth straight victory.
The Bobcats are 15-9-1 overall and 4-3 in the NHC. They can clinch no worse than a tie for second in the
division with a win tonight at Northview.
Findlay is 14-12, 1-5-1.
“Findlay is always a hard place for us to play, so we’re happy to get a win,” BG coach Dan DeWitt said.
“Can we play better? Yes. We controlled the first period and then we let them back in the game, but our
kids responded well in the third period.
“We’re playing with confidence and we found a way to win again tonight.”
Phillip Rich had BG’s other goal, and Tanner Fausnaugh stopped 19 shots. The Bobcats out-shot Findlay,
34-21.

BOYS
Eastwood 69, Genoa 53
In Genoa, Eastwood out-scored the Comets in each of the final three quarters to erase a 12-7 deficit in a
Northern Buckeye Conference game.
Jake Schmeltz scored 19 points to lead four players in double figures for Eastwood, 11-5 overall and 7-3
in the NBC.
Also for the Eagles, Grant Peters had 18, Zach Jacoby added 13 points and Tim Hoodlebrink had 10.
Genoa (8-10, 6-5) was led by Casey Gose with 16 points and Luke Rightnowar with 13.
Woodmore 54, Otsego 51
In Elmore, Woodmore rallied from a 36-32 deficit in the fourth quarter to improve to 3-15 overall and 3-9
in the NBC.
Jalen Myers had 19 points for Otsego (7-10, 4-6), while Schyler Scherff added 12, and Cody Downs had 10.

Seneca East 102, Lakota 57
In Attica, Hunter Saylors scored 40 points as Seneca East improved to 1-6 in the Midland Athletic League.

Dakota Bowling had 18 points, and Spencer King and Josh Kirkpatrick both added 10 for Lakota (6-12, 1-7).

North Baltimore 46
In North Baltimore, Hopewell overcame a 35-30 deficit in the fourth quarter to improve to 6-2 in the MAL.

Jacob Frost had 18 points for NB (7-10, 2-5).
GYMNASTICS
Perrysburg finishes
sixth in NLL
In Perrysburg, the Yellow Jackets finished sixth in the Northern Lakes League meet with 117.000 points.

Springfield won the seven-team meet with a 137.400 total, while Southview was second with 130.450.
Perrysburg’s Melena Purvis tied for 10th in the vault with an 8.100 score and teammate Meghan Grycza was
tied for 12th in the same event with an 8.025 score.
