Nothing too good for dinner guests

Vassiliki Leontis cooks scrumptious dishes in her kitchen – and she serves them on meaningful dishes in
her dining room.
The Greek-American has a treasure trove of china, teacups and tiny porcelain owls who keep an eye on
anyone who eats in the eclectic dining room of her North Prospect Street home.
She semi-jokingly calls the collection her "toys."
But the delicate dishes are not off limits like some precious china doll. Leontis loves to use all the
pieces, even serving ice cream in a glass set from Turkey.
There’s a set of Red Wing china, pieces from her mother-in-law and another given to her by an uncle when
she was 12 years old.
She has a collection of copper owls from Greece.
"Everytime I go, I get more," she said. "People give me, too, interesting owls when they
find them."
Her dining room decorations are a mix of old and new. There are framed black-and-white photos of her
mother as a teen in Greece and colorful ones of her daughters with their musical instruments.
Modern lighting shines on the wooden built-ins, door frames and hardwood floors of her home, which was
built in 1900. She and husband, Neocles, have lived there for 18 years.
